Gouache and gold on cardboard page. On a palace balcony overlooking a blue sky, King Akbar, richly adorned and nimbed, wearing an aigrette turban, a white robe and a green paijama, is seated three-quarters on a gray armchair. He holds a narghile mouthpiece in his left hand and a misbah in his right. In a gilded frame. (Crackling, a description in English from the Victoria & Albert Museum gives a description of the painting) Frame size: 32 x 24 cm Provenance: Former private collection of Indian paintings.
