With walrus-ivory ear grip, gilded silver tang adorned with striated coral cabochons; the steel gutter blade is engraved with Arabic inscriptions in cartouches adorned with stylized tiles. Ribbed back. Craftsman's signature and owner's name. Wooden scabbard covered with brown chagrin. Wear and minor chips. L: 74 cm Inscription: 'Amal 'Osman ; Sahibihi Suleyman lâ fatâ' illâ 'alî lâ sayf 'illâ dhû-l-fiqâr: there is no sword like Zulfikar. Provenance : Jean-Charles Tauzin Collection (1889-1957)
