4 folio volumes, dark blue half-chagrin with corners, spine ribbed, gilt title and tomaison, gilt head, color illustrated covers and spine preserved. Spines darkened, fine scratches on front cover of volume III. First edition, 500 copies printed. 960 photographic illustrations in the text, and 255 plates, 47 of them in color. The first two volumes are devoted to a study of Persia. Volumes 3 and 4 retrace the 1907 voyage.
