Iran, 17th century

Manuscript of Persian poetry, 13 to 15 lines of text, in nasta'aliq per page, in black ink, with a few words in red, in two columns, sometimes at an angle, framed with gilded fillets. Illuminated with four frontispieces in unwân, polychrome and gilded, decorated with floral scrolls on a blue background and surmounted by an arcature, giving the titles of each chapter in white letters inscribed in medallions on a blue background, and on a gilded background for the third. The first four folios give a description of the manuscript. The colophon gives the name of the former owner in an inverted, half-erased red triangle: "Ibn [...] Olia Beg Mahmoudi". Later green cloth flap binding.
