RARE KARAJÀ INDIAN LORI, BRAZIL

On a cap-shaped, elastic plant weave, a multitude of yellow and blue macaw and chloropteran macaw feathers are attached. The upper part is adorned with larger feathers of the same species. Height: 44 cm, diameter: 28 cm. Very fine condition and splendid colors. II/B, Ara ararauna, II/B, Ara chloroptera. Collected between 1954 and 1977. Pre-convention specimens exempt from any prohibition on sale. Note The Karajá people live in the state of Goiás. The center of their territory is the island of Bananal, on the Araguaya River. The feathers are protected inside the braided frame. Provenance Marcel Isy-Schwart Collection (1917 - 2012), preserved by the family.
