  • Description

BÉZOARD

Round, probably bovid, presented in a 19th century globe with an antique label naming the specimen. Height: 22.5 cm, diameter: 14 cm. Note Bezoar is a calcified foreign body most often found in the stomachs of ruminant animals, which cannot be digested. It was renowned for its anti-poison properties, as was unicorn horn. Since the 15th century, it has been the object of scientific curiosity and an integral part of naturalists' cabinets of curiosities.
