  • Description

LARGE LAMPREY

A 19th-century blown-glass tubular jar for preserving liquids. Turned wooden stopper. Height: 105 cm, diameter at base: 19 cm. Petromyzon marinus. Note A primary aquatic vertebrate, lampreys are considered to be fish, but differ from them in that they have a sucker mouth. Sea lampreys spend part of their life cycle at sea, then head up rivers to reproduce in freshwater. To try: lamprey à la bordelaise.
