  • Description

French and Bourbon Islands - (1810)

Piastre Decaen 1810 (10 Livres) A: Crowned eagle R: Crown of two olive branches Condition: B-TB (cleaned) Material : Silver Weight : 26,38 grammes Ref work : VG2290 Note: The origins of this coin were detailed in Numismatique et échange issues 226, 227 and 228 of March and April 1993 by J. Ryckbush, based on manuscripts held in the archives of Mauritius. It appears that the mintage was around 25,000 copies, with a frequent weakness of the mintmark on the obverse and reverse, resulting in an unevenly struck "Dix Livres" mention, in addition to the usual wear and tear. Provenance: Personal collection of Monsieur J.R.
