Ottoman Empire, Balkans, 1807-08
Long, curved steel blade, finely chased copper guard with floral and plant motifs, strong handle with marine ivory plate. The blade is engraved with Arabic inscriptions in "naskhi" script in cartouches surrounded by trefoil motifs. Purple velvet-covered scabbard with openwork gilded copper chappe and bouterolle.
