Para-i-Tutti - Peshkabz

Pakistan or Afghanistan, 18th century

Fine gray damascus bronzed steel blade, double-curved and single-edged, the broad ribbed back engraved with a three-lobed finial at the guard, carved with floral arabesques and formerly inlaid with koftgari gold. The bronzed steel tang is also engraved with inscriptions. The guard is protected by a smooth brass plate, and the handle has a marine ivory plate. Beautiful green velvet-covered wooden scabbard with arabesque-chased silver cap and bolt. L. 38 cm Provenance : Private collection of Mrs. H., Paris, established before 1990. A certificate by Jean Lostalem of Galerie Slim Bouchoucha, Louvre des Antiquaires, dated April 4, 1992, is attached.
