Algeria, circa 1800

with a steel lock plate decorated with foliage, and a superb damascus steel barrel, square and round, carved with stylized tulips inlaid with silver and gold fillets, attached to the wood by four silver rings. The wood of the stock, counterplate and barrel are decorated with cut and chased silver plates forming a foliate motif enhanced by coral cabochons. Slightly missing, formerly inlaid with gold.
