Composed of nine cups and eleven spouts, a wide tray resting on a circular base and shouldered by a long handle. In glazed terra cotta, decorated with geometric motifs in black on a yellow and red background. H. 45 cm This impressive lamp was used for wedding ceremonies and New Year rituals. They were associated with fertility rituals, allowing the souls of ancestors to enter the world of the living to bless the new year and make it fertile. Similar examples are kept at the Musée du Quai Branly (Inventory numbers: 71.1889.121.3 and 74.1972.10.1). Provenance : Jean-Charles Tauzin Collection (1889-1957)Sale ended
