Large in-4 burgundy half-chagrin, spine ribbed, gilt title, cover and spine preserved. Some minor rubbing. First edition with 398 engraved figures in and out of the text (in heliotype for the out-of-text illustrations). INCLUDED by the same author: Les Civilisations de l'Inde. Illustrated with 7 chromolithographs, 2 maps and 350 engravings and heliogravures based on the author's photographs, watercolors and documents. Paris, Firmin Didot et Cie, 1887. In-4, red half-chagrin, cold-framed red chagrined percaline boards, richly decorated ribbed spine, gilt title, gilt edges (period binding). A few scattered brown spots (more pronounced on the endpapers). Provenance : Jean-Charles Tauzin Collection (1889-1957)
